2006 was an exciting year for me. I remember Rhonda Byrne, the author of The Secret, discussing her book on the Oprah Winfrey Show. This book was the talk of the town. Everyone was talking about it. This book was supposed to revolutionize your life to the point where you can achieve anything.
I rushed out to buy and read The Secret. And what I found made a lot of sense. After reading the book, I realized that The Secret was three simple steps. And anyone who followed these steps would achieve any targeted goal with mathematical precision — no matter what race, age, sex, or to an extent IQ you were! If you had enough brainpower to apply the steps, the steps would work.
Wow! Imagine that! Just doing three simple steps and you can transform yourself from a nobody to a somebody. And it doesn’t even matter who you are, since these steps work universally.
For 2006, this was a radical concept in the United States, since many colleges and universities at the time were teaching students that no matter how hard they worked in life, they would always be kept down by The Man. And who was The Man? In the Women Studies program, The Man was defined as men in general. The Minority Studies program defined The Man as Caucasians in general.
The three simple steps discussed in The Secret were:
1) Ask
2) Believe
3) Receive
According to my understanding of The Secret, asking means to verbally ask the universe for a very specific thing. For example, if you were diagnosed with congestive heart failure, you might ask God to restore you to full health.
The next step is believing. To me, believing means to be absolutely convinced that the thing that you prayed for is happening or will happen. For example, if you were diagnosed with congestive heart failure, you might say to God “Thank you Father for answering my prayer. I believe that you are now restoring me to full health. Thank you. Amen.”
And the last step is receiving. Many people define receiving as a passive process of waiting. I don’t. To me, receiving means to run out there and grab it! When you receive a football that someone had thrown, you don’t just stand there and wait passively. Instead, you run out in the direction of the football and grab it!
So an example of receiving could be someone that was diagnosed with congestive heart failure aggressively taking action to reverse the disorder via medical intervention, diet, exercise, vitamins, herbs, etc.
Now some of you may be saying “I asked God for something once when I was a child, and it never came true.” First off, all three steps must be used, not just the asking step. Next, The Secret is a lifestyle, not a one-time event. The Secret is to be used repeatedly, until what you desire comes true.
Are you ready to change your life? Make sure that you hurry down to your nearest bookstore and pick up a copy of The Secret by Rhonda Byrne. Also, Amazon sells this as well. Good luck!
